Why Exclude Rodents

Mice can get into buildings from holes that are as small as ¼ inch. In addition to this, their biology results in very fast population growth.

Health Issues:

Rodents can transmit various diseases to humans, including:

• Salmonellosis (food poisoning)
  
• Rickettsialpox
  
• Lymphocytic choriomeningitis
• Leptospirosis
  
• Rat bite fever
  
• Tapeworms
  
• Ringworm (a fungal disease of the skin)
  
• Hantaviruses (Group of 25 antigenically distinct viruses)
  
• Arenaviruses

Contamination Issues:

Mice can contaminate insulation in walls, stored items in attics, basements, garages or museums. They may also gnaw electrical wiring and create fire hazards or other malfunctions that are expensive to repair.

A single mouse only eats about 3 grams of food per day, but destroys 10 times more. They also usually contaminate foodstuffs with urine, droppings and hair.

Rodents should not be tolerated around schools, child care centers, nursing homes, hospitals, restaurants, food storage areas, warehouses, office buildings, cafeterias, dwellings or other areas where humans may come in contact with rodents or the organism they carry.
